Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what Mascotia ("we") collects when you use the Mascotia app, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. Mascotia is operated by CrawlSense. If you have questions, email us at support@crawlsense.ai.

Your account and identity

By default you can use Mascotia anonymously: we create a random device identifier (a UUID) for your account, and we do not need your name or email to use the app. Optionally you can choose Sign in with Apple, in which case Apple may share your name and email address, or an Apple private relay email, depending on what you choose. We use this only to identify your account and sync your data across devices.

Data we collect

To check the safety of products and help you care for your pets, Mascotia processes:

  • Photos of food items, plants or products you capture or upload, and photos of your pets.
  • Text descriptions or a product name you type to check it.
  • Your pet profiles: species, breed, weight, vaccines, medication, reminders and scan history.
  • Account identifiers: a random, anonymous device UUID and — only if you use Sign in with Apple — the name and email Apple provides.
  • Usage and device data (app interactions, device type, app version, crash diagnostics and an install identifier).

How we use your data

We use your data to analyse the safety of food items and products, to store and sync your pet profiles, to power the vet coach and care reminders, to manage subscriptions, to fix bugs and improve the app, and to comply with the law. We do not sell your personal data.

AI processing

When you scan a food item, a plant or a product, the photo and any text you provide are sent to Anthropic, PBC (United States) and processed through its Claude API to assess whether it is safe or toxic for your pet, the symptoms to watch for and what to do. Anthropic acts as our service provider (processor) for this feature and, under our agreement, your photos and descriptions are not used to train AI models. Google Cloud does not run this AI analysis; it is used only for hosting and storage. Results are estimates and may be inaccurate.

Pet photos and storage

When you save a pet, their photo is stored on Google Cloud Storage so it can appear in your collection and sync across your devices. Deleting a pet deletes their photo; deleting your account deletes all your photos. Photos are not made public and are not used to train AI models.

Third parties we use

We share limited data with service providers that process it on our behalf, under contract. Each one receives only the data it needs for its role:

  • Anthropic, PBC (United States) — receives the photos and text you submit and runs the Claude AI models that analyse them. Under contract, this data is not used to train AI models.
  • Google Cloud (European Union, region europe-west1) — provides hosting and storage only (your account, your pet profiles and your pet photos). Google Cloud does not run the AI analysis.
  • Apple — processes your subscription payment (Apple is the merchant of record). We never receive your full payment details. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple also provides the account data described above.
  • RevenueCat (United States) — receives an app user identifier and purchase/receipt data to manage your subscription status and entitlements.
  • Sentry (United States) — receives crash and diagnostic data and an install identifier so we can detect and fix problems.

International data transfers

Mascotia stores account and pet-photo data in the European Union (Google Cloud, region europe-west1). Some of our service providers — including Anthropic, RevenueCat and Sentry — are located in the United States, so your data may be transferred to and processed there. When we transfer personal data outside your region, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, to protect it.

Deleting your account and data

You can delete individual pets or scans at any time, and you can delete your account and all associated data directly in the app under Settings → Delete account. This works for both anonymous (device UUID) accounts and Sign in with Apple accounts. You can also email support@crawlsense.ai to request deletion. Once you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records to meet legal, tax or security obligations.

Your rights (GDPR and similar)

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct, export, restrict or object to the processing of your data, as well as the right to erasure. You can delete your account and data directly in the app (Settings → Delete account), or email support@crawlsense.ai and we will handle your request. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records to meet legal, tax or security obligations.

Children's privacy

Mascotia is rated 4+ but is intended for adult users who are responsible for a pet. We do not knowingly collect data from children under the applicable minimum age. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.

Estimates, not veterinary advice

Mascotia's safety verdicts, symptoms and advice are AI-generated estimates for informational purposes only. They are not a veterinary diagnosis or treatment. In an emergency or if you have any health concern, contact your vet or an animal poison-control center.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
